Formation of a Salesforce-Website Integration Application

Formation of a Salesforce-Website Integration Application

Industry: Information Technology

Technologies and tools used: Salesforce Sales Cloud, Lightning Component, REST API, OAuth 2.0, Apex Code

Background

The customer is a United States-based startup that works with mid-market and enterprise-level companies. By formalizing their marketing materials utilizing the customer’s website templates, the customer aids its clients’ sales teams in going through the sales process. Customers’ clients can upload marketing materials (case studies, success stories) to this website and edit them in a predesigned format, reducing design expenses.

Challenge

The customer approached NSIQ Infotech to construct a Salesforce custom app for Sales Cloud connection with the internet so that their clients could formalize marketing content and retrieve it later in Salesforce. The product should allow the customer’s clients to share their success stories directly on Salesforce. The customer also wants to submit the app to AppExchange so that it can be made available to the customer’s current clients and expanded to include other mid-market and enterprise-level sales teams with Salesforce accounts.

Solution

NSIQ Infotech’s team created a single-page web application utilizing the Lightning Component framework to meet the customer’s desire for direct access to his website from the Salesforce solutions of his clients. Both the Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience user interfaces were used to construct the app. To link Salesforce Sales Cloud to the customer’s website, REST API callouts using OAuth 2.0 for user authentication were used.

The application provided access to the customer’s website capabilities for the automatic generation of case studies and success stories for his clients, which appeared in a separate section of their Salesforce solutions’ Account and Opportunity records. Users could search for marketing materials directly within Salesforce Sales Cloud, with search parameters that could be customized based on account name and size, transaction size, industry, and other factors. The text detailing a deal similar to the Account/Opportunity a sales rep is dealing with emerges in these Account/Opportunity records as a result of this functionality.

Outcomes

For Salesforce Sales Cloud connectivity with his website, the customer received a custom single-page web application. The application can assist customers’ clients in improving the performance of complex sales teams by delivering relevant case studies and success stories uniformly. The app was published on AppExchange, which was a big plus for the customer because it meant they could earn a profit from the downloads.
